FAQs

What if I have a Pensioner Concession or Centrelink Health Care card?

If you have one of these cards, you don't need Ambulance Victoria membership because your emergency costs are already covered.

The only extra cover that membership would give you is transport from a private medical facility.

What does "dependant" mean?

A dependant means your legal or de facto partner or a child you are legally responsible for. To be included on your family membership, they must be either under 17 and living with you, or full-time students under 25.

What are the rules for students?

Only full-time students under 25 can be included on family memberships. It doesn't matter where the student lives. If you study part time and want cover, please take out single membership.

Am I covered in other states?

You're covered for all emergencies in other states, as long as the call came through 000 (triple zero).

What do I do if I get an invoice?

The first thing to do is check to see (External link) if you were covered by another organisation. If so, you might only need to give information and won't need to pay the invoice yourself.

Can I include parents or siblings on my membership?

No. Family membership can only cover you, your partner and your dependants.

When am I not covered?

Membership doesn't cover:

  • Any service that isn't medically necessary
  • Transport from home to another person's home
  • Transport back to Victoria if it isn't medically necessary
  • Children over 17 who aren't full-time students
  • During the first 14 days, you're also not covered for non-emergency transport and any conditions you had before you joined.
  • Still haven't found the answer? See Ambulance Victoria's FAQ (External link) for more.
