You can apply to get a 20% rebate on your personal vehicle registration from FY 2025-2026.

You can claim this rebate for up to 2 light vehicles that are registered in your name.

Over 4 million eligible vehicles

Personal vehicles under 4.5 tonnes like cars, wagons, motorcycles, utes and light vans are all eligible for this rebate.

If your work vehicle is in your name, it’s eligible for a rebate, but vehicles registered to organisations aren’t eligible.

Right now, rebates are available for personal vehicles under 4.5 tonnes. This includes:

  • wagons (4WD)
  • station wagons
  • motorcycles
  • utes
  • vans
  • light trucks.

No, you need to apply for your rebate using your own Service Victoria account. This is because you can only get up to 2 rebates in your name.

If you paid your registration between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, you’ll be eligible to apply for a rebate from 1 June 2026.

If your registration is due in June, you can still apply from 1 June but will receive any eligible rebates from July.

If you paid your registration after 30 June 2026, you won’t be able to apply for a rebate as it is for the 2025-2026 financial year only.

We’ll ask you for your registration number, full name, Victorian driver licence number or VicRoads customer number, and bank details so we can send you the rebate if you are eligible.

After you apply for your rebate, we’ll email you to let you know we got your application. You’ll also get an email with the outcome of your application.

When you apply, you will need to provide your Australian bank details. This is how we’ll make your payment, if eligible.

Most payments are processed within 30 days of lodging your claim, with payments made directly into your bank account.

If you've paid your registration after this rebate program started, your payment may take longer.

You can apply for a maximum of 2 rebates in your name.

You can choose which vehicle you want to claim a rebate for, as long as it’s eligible.

Yes, you can still apply if you pay your registration in 3, 6 or 12-month instalments. The rebate will be calculated based on the full annual registration amount.

Yes, you can still apply if you don’t have a permanent address. We ask for your vehicle registration number and licence number or VicRoads customer number, but not your address.

Yes – the status of your licence doesn’t affect your eligibility for this rebate. We'll check your eligibility by looking at your vehicle type and registration number.

If you have a valid Victorian vehicle registration, valid Victorian driver licence and your vehicle is garaged at a Victorian address, you can still apply for a rebate even if you’re currently living interstate.
